Isn't it hypocritical of the US gov. to denounce the growers of foreign, addictive, harmful drugs, while allowing the US to export tobacco? Wouldn't our money be better spent than in Columbia or Bolivia?

It's hypocritical but the US gov't is thinking about their interest (not the public) above all, so of course they want those countries to have more active roles against drugs. That keeps the DEA and other gov't agencies abroad alive and with people EMPLOYED.

First of all, I am so tired of hearing about how "deadly" tobacco is and how it must be stopped at all costs. Yes, it can cause health problems, but so does alcohol, caffeine, and junk food. I thought it was our right to do as we see fit? If I can murder(excuse me abort) a baby, why can't I light up a cigarette and exercise my rights? Thousands of people everyday get hooked on legal, prescription drugs given to them by their doctors. Is it the doctor's fault?

Tobacco's grown around the world, 'sparky', and widely recognized as a legal product of trade...unlike heroin...both will kill you, heroin's faster, though, if you're in a hurry...
