Ask their doctor but generally no. You use breast milk or formula until one year, adding cereal as possible.

Sure. I started my son on cereal in the baby food jar at 4 months. Veggies at 5 months and meats at 6 months. That is what my doctor said to do. I am now giving him fruits also. Just watch carefully because it's a new texture and your baby could get a little gagged. Good Luck.

I think thats fine. Im sure by now the baby is getting really big and ready to have some decent food. If the baby is now eating cereal all of them rice, oatmeal and barley then I would add a bit of jar food.
Some say that starting with fruits make them not want veggies. I personally started with green veggies and my boys still love veggies years later! Make sure you dont go crazy and start trying every jar on the shelf lol. Take three days or so for each to make sure the baby doesnt have any negative effects.
I started with lunchtime. Cereal in the am with bottle and then lunchtime fed jar food then bottle, just be sure its early that she/he isnt STARVING by the time the bottle arrives :)
Good luck!

It is a matter of what you are comfortable with and if your baby is ready. I have worked for some doctors who say not to give the baby anything until 6mos. Some say 4mos. I've even worked for a few that have said that its okay to add a little rice cereal to formula to thicken it if a baby is actually hungry and not fullfilling that hunger at earlier ages. However, the general rule of thumb is to start the baby on cereal first and then after the baby has been on cereal for a week or longer then start adding fruits or veggies, one at a time for 5-7days before introducing another. I would suggest talking to your pediatrician first though, just to get his/her input. But the decision is ultimately up to you.

4-6 months is usually the time you baby is ready to start solids. but it really depends on the baby. if he has strong neck muscles and shows interest in other food ie watches you while your eating
or opens his mouth when something is placed in front of him. and is able to keep his tongue low so that you can insert a spoon then chances are he is ready. it's best to start with a rice cereal.
when choosing jars of baby food choose jars that say beginer on them. at this age do not substitute a bottle with baby food always offer food after a bottle until about 8 months then you can offer food first. studies have shown that waiting until a baby is older then six months to start solids can actually increase the risk of him developing allergies

It depends on whether your baby is ready or not. You need to make sure you start him on the cereal first because it has iron in it and they need the iron. I started mine on cereal when he turned 4 months, and he started jarred vegetables at around 5 1/2 months. My doctor suggested it because my son was on the low end weight wise. I just held the spoon near him, he grabbed it and put it in his mouth. I figured he was ready. He's 9 months old now and eating our food, but he initiated that as well.

Foods should be introduced gradually so that if your child has allergies, you'll be able to know what s/he's allergic to. It isn't wise to introduce solids without your doctor's okay.
Human children don't need anything except milk for the first six months of life anyway. My son, now 31 and a dad himself, was totally breastfed til he was 8 months old.
Take it easy with the baby. They grow up so fast!

Yes, you can start feeding solid foods to your baby starting at 4 months.I would start with fruit such as bananas or applesauce, then about a week later start by adding rice cereal and in a few weeks after that you can add veggies and then meats.

A baby at such a young age it is ok to start on jar food but only start with one fruit like bannas try that for awhile ans see how the baby adjusts to it as long as the baby has no problems continue but dont change the babys food too often like every 2 weeks try a different fruit with baby cereal .. you will see that it is healthy for the baby ..

Some doctor's say 4 months for cereal, and some say 6 months. You can always call and ask.
