What bands do you like?

Foghorn, When I say "black" I'm reffering to people of mainly African or Carribean origin. Although the question is open to all non-white people (Asian, Hispanic, Polynesian etc..).

I am a black girl who listens to a lot of rock and metal. I'm interrested to find out if there is anyone else like me.

I like avenged sevenfold, aiden, the black maria, my chemical romance, hawthorne heights, taking back sunday, afi, a day in the life, on the last day, silverstein, bayside, orgy, no doubt, third eye blind, atreyu, smile empty soul, dropkick murphys, juliana theory, weezer, matchbook romance, bullet for my valentine, across five aprils, foo fighters, red hot chilli peppers, funeral for a friend, jack's mannequin, something cooperate....I can go on and on....I'm sick of people giving me a hard time because I like this music, I'm multiracial, bur mostly black and I think I can listen to whatever I want and shouldn't get **** for it.

I do. I can't understand very many bands of the last 10-15 years, but if you listen to alittle Queen (harmonies are off the chain), get some Clapton (his MTV unplugged was hittin'), and the Beatles are timeless.

Some of you brothas & sistas out there who won't even give a chance are missing out. The Beatles were influenced by Black artists. Rolling Stone was influenced by Black artists.

You're missing out. I can't get into punk or too much heavy metal, but classic rock is called classic rock for a reason.

Also, if you get a chance, listen to Pat Benetar's Wuthering Heights. Her voice is incredible!

I am a black girl and I love alternative! Some of the groups I like are Breaking Benjamin, Bush, Chevelle, Cold, Foo Fighters, Nickleback, Three Days Grace, Fuel, Panic at the Disco...the list goes on! You are not alone girl! I alos listen to a lot of R&B, Rap/HipHop, Jazz, and Pop music too. I guess my taste is eclectic and I have an open mind, which I am okay with!

Why specify "Black"? Do I presume there is a racial connotation in your question?

I am a musician, playing trumpet, French Horn and Keyboards, and my preferences are for Jazz and Classical. I also compose music.

My influences are Miles Davis (trumpet), Chick Corea and Geoff Castle (Keyboards), Robert Simpson, E.J. Moeran, Kenneth Leighton, Tony Hatch, Jim Webb, Burt Bacharach, Aaron Copland, Carl Nielsen (Composition).

Stevie Wonder and the Jam; Sister Sledge, Petula Cark feature in my musical hall of fame. I also adore Irish traditional music.

I am an Irishman, but I do not categorise my music tastes by Race. Non-Irishmen (or Irishpeople, if we have to be 100% PC) can revel in the Irish milieu.

Phrase your questions differently, so that Racial connotations are not construable. I would have posited your question as follows:-

I'm interested in the experience that people have of rock and metal, particularly in respect to your preferences as regards bands. I am particularly interested in the perception of this genre amongst Blacks, however, the opinions of all people will be of use. Indicate your perception of your own Race and orientation, if you wish.

fall out boy, panic! at the disco, bad brains, relient k, the ramones, the clash, the hush sound, paramore, evanescence, green day, alot more. sometimes i do feel weird cuz alot of my friends dont listen to this kinda music but hey. im different. thats cool. but i pretty much lik all kinds of music even classical. cept country
