It's a Vespa ET2, 50cc. It was working fine and then it suddenly locked up. Any ideas on how to fix it please? I don't want to force it and break it.

More than likely the bendix shaft is locked up. In laymans terms....... You know how when you start a lawn mower centrifical force makes a device move toward the crank shaft to start it,and when you return the cord it retracts so it's still not on the crank while its running. That is jammed or you have seized the engine. If you can turn the crank by hand with a wrench or a socket then your engine is good and the kick start assembly needs to be replaced

Sounds like you have broken a gear on you starter mechanism or damaged it some other way. If you are good with tools, take it apart and check it out, otherwise take it to your dealer.

the best soultion to your problem is to get a real motorcycle!
scooters are like fat chicks, fun to ride but you don't want your friends to see you on one!
