yes it is perfectly fine!
i breastfed both of my kids. after they hit 6 months, they went back and forth between formula and breastmilk. your child will turn out just fine!
believe me, i know the irritation of not being able to relax and eat what you want. i am literally chomping on my fingers because i want sushi and can't have any. i can't eat subway because of the lunchmeat, i can't have a coke, and i can't even enjoy a glass of wine in public without at least 20 "pregnancy police" personnel making a comment. including the bartender.
so take a day off....eat what you want. drink lots of water, and resume breastfeeding.

I'm breastfeeding and use formula. If you're not making a lot of milk in the beginning, its ok to give formula for supplement. What I did was I breastfed when I was at home, but if I had to work, I would leave formula or I pumped milk. If you have a great milk supply, you may not need to use formula or if you don't make a lot of milk, you could take this herbal pill called fenugreek. It builds your milk supply. You can find it at Sun Harvest or any other health food store. I'm also sure you can eat whatever you want but just be careful with gassy foods. Good luck in whatever you choose.

When you deliver ask to speak to a lactation consultant. Have her help you learn to get your baby to latch on and ask lots of questions.
It takes time and it is painful. You may become engorged or you might not produce enough milk. I breastfed my son for 6 weeks and was constantly engorged, in pain and leaking. If I wasn't crying, he was or we both were. Everything I ate had to be bland or he would get gassy, too much fruit and he would get diarrhea. I gave up and he is now a very healthy and happy 7yr old. Carnation formula is very easy on the belly. He had trouble with Similac.
I had a friend that didn't have any problems and only a feeling of a pinch at latch on.
If you do drink alchohol you can pump and dump your breast milk and susbtitute formula.
What ever you decide it is your decision. You have to do what works best for you and your baby. Do not let anyone make you feel guilty or less than a good Mom.

Congratulations on making it to nine months of breastfeeding! Most moms give up within the first three.
You can eat whatever you want and you can drink alcohol (but not enough to become drunk) when you're breastfeeding. Your diet does NOT change the composition of your breastmilk this is how women in famine conditions can still breastfeed their children successfully with the children only becoming malnourished after weaning.

I ate what I wanted when I was breastfeeding, and it was fine. In fact, it's great to eat the things that you like to eat (even if it is garlicky or spicy) because it will help your baby accllimate to the taste. So...down the road when he or she is ready for solids, the flavor will not come as such a surprise and your child is more likely to eat those foods.
If I were you, I would only use formula for emergencies, otherwise, nurse or pump. It's so good for your baby and for you, too. It helps reduce your risk of breast cancer and helps you get back to your pre-pregnancy weight.

It is okay to switch between but it could cause your supply to deminish. You could still pump out when the baby has formula & that could help keep up your supply. If you are wanting to drink alcohol then go ahead. Many times I heard you had to pump & dump but I have also heard you don't that once you feel that it has left your system then it is okay to feed your child. I pump & dump for one session after I have one drink just to be on the safe side.
Enjoy you new baby!

yes, you can. you can eat whatever you want when you are breastfeeding though. some babies get fussy or gassy when you eat garlic and things like that, but mine never did. you can drink too, just do it right after you have breastfed and limit yourself to only a few. we fed my son both breast milk and formula.

The baby will suffer from gas pains and digestive trouble due to the bouncing back and forth, but yes, you can. I would recommend breastfeeding, though. Is a beer really worth the chance that your child may wind up with fewer antibodies than they really need because they weren't breastfed?

I breast fed and it's the best! Literally, for you and your baby. I wouldn't dream of feeding him any of that canned crap. Your milk has special anitbodies that keep him healthy- my daughter was never sick until she was 2 and went to day care. Also, if you're tender, don't give up, you'll get used to it. I thought I would never, but finally I was just like, ok, and everything was fine. I don't know about switching on and off...doesn't sound that great to me.I know this sounds weird, but you can 'milk' yourself and put it in sterilized bottles! Hope this helps. I am glad you are thinking about it...that's great! :)

The only thing I gave up for breastfeeding was tomatoes, after my babies reacted to them!
