My opinion is South Carolina with Mississippi a close second.

In a former job, I travelled througout most of the US for a period of 15 years. I think that there are too many variables to pick one state as being the worst. Many are bad in some respects and good in others. So, everybody's opinion is going to be based on their personal experience and preferences. I will say that the state I enjoyed visiting the least was South Dakota, and I was there several times. It just did not trip my trigger in any respect. Again, just my personal perspective. I am sure that others will think it is a garden of eden. Sorry, South Dakota, you are my pick for the low end of the totem pole.

Well it depends on the person, everybody have their own opinion but doesn't mean it is the worst state, could of been a bad experience the first time for the person. Every state is different going by the weather wise, the people, etc..

Other than the state of the economy, I would say Louisiana. They haven't recovered fully from Katrina because we keep spending in Iraq instead of helping them more.
