Are you trying to see what other peoples veiws are or do you really not know? Anyways, before the slaves, there was a few hundred years of indentured servants. The slaves were basically used for working...Duh...And also, it depends on what you mean by developement. They did help the economy, but they also contributed to alot of freedoms and rights we have today (women's rights and general freedom) through their writing (after they were liberated and educated), and spurned alot of our rap and African American music (hiphop, R&B, soul).

Uh... are you joking? They are the reason why America is such an economic powerhouse. One large contribution was their involvement in the development of the farming industry (cotton and tobacco specifically).

our calender is based on what they set
and the basically develpoed the day sunday because every day they went to church and that was the day no one went it was sunday.

By doing the hard labor that made the economy of the US what it was back then. They basically were the only hope for the cotton, tobacco and agricultural businesses by working the feilds. Do you think the ritzy Europeans who came over could have done it on their own? NEVER!
