I think it is a policy that should be implemented all over the world. Our population is way too high and cannot be sustained by the earth. One couple one child.

I've been told, with no supporting evidence. that female children have it very bad. I understand they are frequently aborted, and sometimes killed at birth. All this in an attempt to produce a male offspring. If this is true, the overpopulation by males in the future could cause serious problems with maintaining a population. I really don't think selective breeding or it's results will strengthen mankind in any significant way.

We have friends who are missionaries to China. They say it is so heartbreaking to see the new born baby girls left out in the woods to die! The first few they saw, they brought them to an orphanage, only to find out that they are bursting at the seams, and don't want the girls. If left there, often they starve to death due to lack of food. It is a tragedy and travesty and does nothing to strengthen mankind! On top of all this, it is very, very expensive to adopt a baby girl from China. Go figure - you'd think they'd give them away for free!

No. I'm afraid the Chinese government are perfectly able to see what a problem is but come up with an authoritarian response instead of a humane one. This has been the case for over 50 year so I don't expect it to change. (look at when they killed all the small birds to save crops without realising that the birds also ate harmful insects)

The one-baby policy has caused lots of girl babies to be killed because parents want their one baby to be a boy. I would just be grateful for any baby.

It's good for China in the long term to try to curb overpopulation for their country. I don't think china is looking out for mankind so no it doesn't strengthen mankind.

The only way to ensure that the population of china goes down is to steralize everyother baby born.

I suppose it depends on the country and how their population is... but look at how China's population is booming. Apparently they're doing something right. Or else it's because of the US outsourcing so many jobs to there.

I say have all the kids you want until you need my tax dollars to take care of them. Then you get a tax dollar funded abortion and sterilization. Don't breed them if you can't feed them.
