any file sharing files can contain viruses as they are not regulated by anyone as bittorrent files are held on users computers and not in a central location therefore virus checking isn't possible however there is light. User comments will give you a good indication as to whether the file is what it is supposed to be and if it contains anything nasty. These user comments are not moderated therefore users can be very blunt about the files they have downloaded. This gives you some measure of trust when downloading.

is my favourite bittorrent site. Never have had any problems with anything off here.

The stuff on TorrentSpy, like any other P2P site, is uploaded by it's users i.e. people on the internet like you and I. So, there's no guarantees that anything you get will or will not have viruses.

All that said, I've been grabbing stuff off it for years and have never yet come across anything that's been infected and certainly I'd trust BitTorrent in general more than say Kazza or LimeWire. If in doubt read the comments pages against the file you're looking at, if it's virus ridden then someone else will likely have found out before you and posted there to warn others (which is the other advantage of TorrentSpy: people will comment to say whether something's legit or not).

yes i do it all the time. BitTorrents are pretty safe for the most part safer than limewire stuff by far.
