There is usually one $140 or $150 dollar offer on the site just to give the site more appeal and that is what she it talking about.
However all of the other 300+ offers actually pay you money. They just don't pay as much. There are tons of free offers, that are surveys and such (around 100), which don't require any payment or credit card. However, they only pay between $0.50 to $1.50 per offer. If you use a credit card you can make around $5.00 to $20 per offer through free trials (ex. blockbuster.com) but they still require a shipping and handling payment or initiation fee of around $5 - $10. Most people make around $25 - $50 bucks pretty fast but you got to be dedicated to make the hundreds of dollars. Some even make over $1000 overall.
If you have more questions, I found this guide pretty helpful. The FAQ section answered some of the questions I had:

I think you can make money with them. Keep in mind that you have to sign up to companies to then buy products - so in the long run I don't think it would be worth it. I looked into one of the trial offers for a diet pill - after your free trial you are locked into paying 149.00/per month. Just make sure to read the fine print and term and conditions of all offers. I personally, don't think it is worth it
