I can forgive stealing but not cruelty to animals. I hate and abhor mice and rats... rodents... agh... but I can't see myself hurting one for the sake of hurting it when it is just trying to survive in this world; animals are neither good or bad, they have no conscience or sense of good/bad; they merely exist... but WE have a sense of what good or bad, and what's right or wrong. Stealing? Maybe someone is hungry... that's forgivable. But, cruelty to animals? That is worse, and I always think of all the serial killers and joy killers and psychopaths that first started torturing, mutilating and killing animals...

STEALING...
I saw a few post where people said animals can't fend for themselves, your hurting a life, etc.

I'm sorry but animals are some of the strongest creatures in this world. In this world we always want to help animals and save them from extinction and cruelty. But that's the cycle of life. If dinosaurs were still around how many humans would be here, we would probably be extinct. Think about it.

I think stealing is worse, because people should fend for themselves. Taking something from someone else who has worked hard for it is just plain wrong. The person you steal from may even have less then you. If you steal from a business or a company everyone pays the prices. If you steal from another country WAR happens and thousands are killed. Something you do to HURT one person could end up hurting thousands or millions.

it depends on the situations. if, for example its a very minor cruelty (like putting those doggy clothes on your dog) compared to say stealing a million dollars from a charity that would have saved many human (or animal) lives, then obviously the stealing is worse.

In general, I would say that its usually worse to be cruel to animals than it is to steal. Usually when we have the option to steal something its not something like a million dollars from a charity, but an item or items that will not cause a lot of suffering. and usually animal cruelty causes a lot of suffering.

Cruelty to animals is terrible, and stealing from someone who will be hurt by the loss is also bad; it's NOT a one or the other.

There is line in a book by Robin Hobbs that sais something like; "I would prefer the cruelty of animals to the casual indifference of human," it's from the farseer trilogy. Anyway generally I believe cruelty to animals is worse. Unless your stealing from me.

Cruelty to animals of course. People can fight back when you steal, animals tend to be dependant on their owners. Abusing an animal is like smacking a baby in the face. They dont see it coming.
