I'm a 3rd Generation American.
Shock & Anger, but not surprised, since I knew that since America backs Israel, the Arabs would seek to punish us. We are Israel's best ally and need to remain so.
Israel has the RIGHT to exist as a soverign state, and America needs to continue to protect Israel's RIGHT to co-exist with the Arab nations.
Fractions of Islam or not, the Muslim's of the Middle East have hundreds of years of history of restlessness and stirring up nations about them. Whether in the name of religion or economics, the Muslims extoll their warlike agenda on those who do not kneel to their demands.
Despite it was under President Clinton's watch, in 1993, we got word from the Phillippine intelligence that there were Muslim sectors that were planning to utilize planes as projectiles against the United States. Like all administrations before and since, information does not always go to the proper persons who have the ability to take it to the top. President Roosevelt knew 2 days before the Pearl Harbor attacks what the Japanese were planning to do; but he elected to be quiet and not act on it since the American people were very pacifist at that time and were not wanting to get involved in the war in Europe. But FDR made a management decision and allowed thousands of Americans to be sacrificed so that we'd enter the war to finish the devil Hitler.
Perhaps, Bush did the same? Maybe he sat on the 1993 intelligence reports so that he'd have his leverage to go up against Iraq? Long shot. Time will spell it out. But, Clinton had this info before Bush, and he also did nothing.
Guess we Americans have to be pushed pretty hard before we strike back? Hmmmmm......
In anycase, the deed is done, and America (whether joined by other allies or not) needs to kick some boody over there and set the record straight of:
1. America is a country to NOT be reconed with. Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto said regarding the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."
2. Israel needs to exist, unprovoked among their neighbors.
3. Better control over the petroleum reserves, so that the American economy is kept stable.
9/11 was inevitable since we are becoming all one world. Unfortunately, there will always be the bullies who want to rule the world by themselves. Each nation or strong leader has taken his turn; but all eventually fade away because Democracy is the ONLY government that is a Win-Win for the people it governs and those who trade with it.

Well, I was having breakfast when my neighbor came over and told me that a helicopter hit the world trade center. I thought it was some sort of accident. I turned the news on and saw that a plane actually hit and saw the 2nd one hit. It was terrifying. I just prayed for all of the people in the buildings and vicinity. I was shocked and disgusted that this could happen without intervention of some kind. I wondered where our military was and why they were not stopping it.

Devastated
I truly believed we were going to war. I was unable to speak to anyone but my mother and father for 2 weeks. My Mum called me that morning she is in the east and I am in the west and I watched the second plane go into the towers. I was dating a lovely Muslim man from Egypt at that time, he is still in my life but I have to admit that I had anger towards him for some time. I has SO many questions for him and of course he answered them all. His mother and I had a very long conversation about it and prayed together for peace.
I am not God, it is not my place to judge, I am a Christian and I believe that the men who went to their deaths believing what they were doing was for God will meet Him and will have to explain there actions to Him. I would not want to be them. But in a very strange way it was understanding that they believed helped me forgive them. For Christians and Jews alike have killed in the name of God.
Strangely, my first thoughts were for people I know of in New York, the celebrities I know that call that home. I prayed for them and their families.
There will always be pain in my heart over this, that I know for sure. It changed me. I had never seen a person jumping to their death as an alternative to staying in the building and that along with all the other horrors I saw that day will never leave me.

Jana, I do understand what you are asking. On the day of the terrorist attack in 2001, I saw it on TV basically as it happened. It was the worst thing I have ever seen in my 65 years of life. There is no cause, no religion, no country, no people, big enough to justify such a terrible act. I hope that all those responsible spend eternity burning in hell.

I felt that someone was asleep at the wheel. In view of the attempted bombing in 93 we should have been more alert to the possibilities. After all didn't the pilots get their training here in U.S.?
