That's fine. People want to get you what you need anyways.

it's much easier for your guests if you register at a specific shop that has a gift registry. They can call the shop direct (or often access a website specific to your list) and see what hasn't already been bought. The shop will then deliver everything to you in one drop-off after the wedding.
If you send out a list, people are going to have to physically buy the item and get it to you, and you're likely to end up with a lot of duplicates.
Lots of shops have gift registry services - Argos, Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and the other big department stores. Just get in touch with them in plenty of time - John Lewis need a minimum of 2 months notice, for example.
Good luck!

IT's pretty commonplace for a couple getting married to give out present lists with invitations to the wedding. It's especially usefull for guests when the couple have been living together for a while and they do not need the usuall wedding gifts that people may have bought in the past.
Go for it, anyone that doens't want to buy anything will refrain. At least the people who do will have some idea of what to get you.

when you send the invitations out and with a list of what you do not have, have them respond to you RSVP so you can write down what it is that there getting you, cause I had a friend do that and not too many ppl have money so they pick the least expesive thing well she got lets say 5 coffee pots and 10 serving spoons, when I got married I put RSVP and ppl responded to me and stated that they were gonna get the coffee pot or what ever it is and when the next person called and said they were gonna get it, I told them someone else was getting it so they could pick something else just make sure they call or write what there gonna get you makes it easier on all your guest so when you open the gifts up no one is sitting there damit I got her that and then 2-5 more say it and then you find yourself bring that in and exchanging for what you really want!

I see nothing wrong with putting your list in with your invitations. When you register at a gift registry they go on and get the list so I see it as the same thing except the people your inviting don't have to go to the store and print off a registry they already have it. So my advise would be to go for your idea, when my husband and I got married we never registered, people asked what we wanted and we told them. And our wedding turned out awesome and we got everything we wanted.

Proper etiquette would be to add to your invitation where you are registered. My suggestion would be that you pick a couple of places, register, and register - be sure to register for the big things if you have big needs. Best case scenario: you will get gift cards that you can put towards those big items when it is time to buy them. We registered at Macys, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Target when we got married. Prayers =)

You do not have to regester at a certain store, but keep in mind if you put the same list in every invitation, you are probably going to get multiples. Also, if you aren't very specific, you might get a different color, size, etc. than what you really wanted.

Go to www.theknot.com. There are answers to all types of wedding questions on that site. It's also a good place to register.

Yes this is wrong, and very, very tacky. It's bad enough that people register at stores! Let people buy what they think you might like - it's personal then.

no its not wrong, you maybe dont want a lot of stuff out of one shop. you do it however you feel you want to after all its your family and friends and i am sure that they would far rather buy you a gift that you actually want.
