When I 1st met my husband, he was a little wild (NEVER cheating but drank too much, stayed out too late, etc.). We have been married for a few years now and he hardly ever goes out with his friends. I really like and trust most of the guys he works with. When he is out with them, he is responsible and home at a decent time. The problem is that my husband tends to do what everyone else is doing. (Example: When with responsible men, he is responsible; but when with irresponsible men, he is irresponsible.) One guy he works with is trouble.

Is it okay that I request my husband not participate in "out-of-office" activities that this guy is involved in. My husband tends to drink too much and stay out too late when he is around people who do the same.

Thanks for your advice.

U can't tell your husband what to do as he might end up resenting u for this. Instead, let him know your fears and concerns about hanging out with this guy friend of his. If he insists on being friends with him, why don't u invite him over to your house so he can meet u and eventually be friends with u as well. In this way, he will be more inclined to respect your husband, yourself and your marriage.

My husband had a friend like that that he worked with. And everytime he'd go out with the loser, he'd come home extremely late like 7am the following morning. I told my husband that this guy is a loser and misery loves company. I finally had to curse the friend out because he was making comments about me wearing the pants. The loser got fired so there is no longer an issue. I know this doesnt help, sorry.

You can NOT treat your hubby as if he is a child and tell him who he can and cannot associate with. You CAN tell him that as an adult he needs to be responsible and behave in a manner becoming of an adult man. He needs to be able to control his drinking so he doesnt get in trouble or follow the antics of someone else.

Well, I certainly would 'request' it. And if he insists on going out with the wild guy, then maybe you should go along. Or maybe go out on the town with some of your single friends. Tell him there's only one reason he wants to go out with this guy. Also, point out that you have no problem with his other friends.
