What do you all think about stereotypes? Do you think they are getting out of hand these days? Or no? What stereotype is often directed at you, and how do you handle it?

I've seen and heard many stereotypes based an race, gender, and belief. But I wa wondering about occupation for some reason. Out of curiousity, what stereotypes have you heard about actors and actresses, artists, students, doctors, and so on.

That's just out of curiousity. I really don't like stereotypes. The sterotypes that are directed at me can be proven wrong just as easily as anyone can proves theirs wrong... or right. So yeah. Multiple questions there.

I think stereo types are less talked about then before, not more.
I believe most stereotypes are probably true. People can easily accept positive stereotypes, but pretend the negative ones don't exist.
I understand that there are victims of stereotyping as well.

I will give you one you have never heard. I own a small hauling company down here in Florida. I will say that most of the native Southern whites down here are lazy and hard to deal with. I will defend that as true. I have better luck with hispanics and northerners, and I am speaking from many examples, lots of true experience.
You know most of the more common stereotypes, everybody does.
You may not like them, but that won't make them go away, or that won't make them untrue, just because one doesn't like them.
Actors make poor employees, they aren't going to be loyal to the job, they have one foot out the door hoping they win the audition.
Students are to be looked at as temporaries as well.
Doctors are about the top on my list. You have to be TRULY smart to be a doctor, there is no faking it. They help people and deserve every dollar they earn.
Lawyers are not rocket scientists. Here is a stereotype. I do believe most lawyers are snakes, same with realtors. They're great if you need one, but I don't trust them either.

It's in human nature. Stereotypes, albeit unfair at times, can have a grain of truth to them. It's okay as long as people constantly remind themselves that it's a stereotype and may not be reality. But sometimes it's justified as part of our natural defenses.

I am usually considered a hippie or a redneck. I don't know why, but I am, and I don't have a problem with it because I am both somehow.
