3.3t^2 + 8.7t - 9.4t^2 + 5t
Can someone simplify this for me. For example, 3t^2 + 5t^2 = 8t^2

well hi Mike
Part One;
3.3t^2 + 8.7t - 9.4 t^2 + 5t
( 3.3t^2 - 9.4t^2)+( 8.7t + 5t)=
-6.1t^2 + 13.7t
Factor 't'
t ( -6.1 t + 13.7 )= 0
t = 0
Or
-6.1 t + 13.7 = 0 ; -6.1 t = - 13.7 ; t = (-6.1)/(-13.7) ;
t ~ + 0.445
Part Two;
3t^2 + 5t^2 = 8t^2
3t^2 + 5t^2 - 8 t^2 = 0
( 3 + 5 - 8 )t^2 = 0
0 t^2 = 0
0 =0
Result ; Always True;
Good Luck

3.3t^2 + 8.7t - 9.4t^2 + 5t
Can be done like:
3.3t^2 + 8.7t
- (+9.4t^2 + 5t)
Since you're subtracting, you have to switch the signs of the bottom one and add:
3.3t^2 + 8.7t
+ (- 9.4t^2 - 5t)
Combine like terms:
-6.14t^2+3.7t
That isn't the distributive property...
This is: a(c+b)=ac+ab

eh!
3.3t^2 + 8.7t - 9.4t^2 + 5t (!!!)
i presume the '-' is '=' (?)
since it has a single number after decimal, multiply by 10 to get
33t^2 + 87t = 94t^2 + 5t
rewrite now as
94t^2-33t^2 = 87t - 5t
or, 61t^2 = 82 t
or, t ( 61t - 82) = 0 or t=0 or t=82/61 !

There is no solution to be made, you would need the equation to equal something in order to be "solved", but it can be simplified to 13.7t - 6.1t^2
