No sooner had lebanon declared a massive 6% Economic growth prediction for 2006 than jealousy reared its ugly head in Israel. The aim of this war was to cripple lebanon Economically and the opportuned moment was the capture of two Israeli soilders.
Israel has thousands of hezbollahs kidnapped so what's new. Usually there would be negotiations but this time round it was an opportunity to cripple lebanon that Israel could not overlook hence the attack on lebanese infrastructure, Air and sea blockade.
Religion had nothing to do with the war; it's a green eyed monster called jealousy!

The creation of Israel in 1948, in what was then the British mandate of Palestine, fulfilled the Zionist ambition for a Jewish state. Subsequent military victories over its Arab neighbors enabled Israel to annex or occupy additional territory. Tentative hopes for an end to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict were raised by the death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in 2004 and the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in 2005. Not happy with this, the newly voted (2005 with only14 seats of the 128 Lebanese parliament)Hezbollah take the decision to carry out more terrorist type tactics by kidnapping Israeli soldiers from the border and low and behold the Israeli army retaliate ? Surprised! I am still working out who's at fault: Israel, Lebanon or Britain back in 1948

If Lebanon will return the warriors they abducted Israel will pulled out. Israel never never replaced into the 1st to attack The ball in the arms of Lebanon, Syria and Iran. in the event that they'll stop promise the terrorists seven-hundred virgin women in the subsequent international in the event that they'll kill Israelis and blow themselves then Israel will look for peace and somewhat in the area ( like they continuously did). Israel Pulled out of Lebanon in 12 months 2000 and from Gaza incredibly much a 12 months in the past so whilst the arabs countries will step forward to look for peace? and don't pay attention to the guy that answer after me, ask him what could take place if there have been greater Palestinians than Israelis, do you somewhat think of Israel will bypass and abducted Palestinians? Palestinians could use the money they attending to construct and advance their united states of america and to no longer build greater missiles and shoot them on Israel cities. Hezbollah shot over a hundred and fifty missiles and killed Israeli young little ones and girls already in 24 hours. So its a 2 aspects conflict. lower back, return the Israelis you abducted and stop taking photos missiles and Israel will go away you on my own and bypass back to their employer.

In short, the Israeli's want to force all the Arab population from their region to ensure they rule the area. Water and resource control also play a part in this as does ownership of farming land. Religion does play a small part in this, but only at a people level, govts in the area have no interest in religious arguments that won't advance their political positions.
The Arab populations in the area have been generally oppressed by either UK/France, US, their own leaders, and anyone else you can think of to be honest for centuries, doesn't make them right ( if they support violence) but it does make them angry.
The Israeli attack was NOT in response to the 2 soldiers being kidnapped, they were already prepared for it and had in fact gone on a kidnapping mission the day before themselves to take members of Hezbollah's parliament hostage to ensure they got a response. I say take them hostage, they sent commandos into a foriegn nation to kidnap democratically elected members of a foreign parliament. Hezbollah reacted as you would expect them to and BINGO you have a reason for war, however weak it sounds.
The news never reports the Israeli commando raids in Lebanon where they wear Lebanese security uniforms (illegal under Geneva convention) and gun down "suspects" regardless of civilian casualties around them and then disappear back over the border. Sounds a bit like terrorism to me...
To be honest the Israelis are to blame for the current problem, with the US backing them they are like a small boy with a big brother beating up kids in the playground knowing their brother will hurt those who try to fight back. Without the US they would shut up, keep their borders to themselves and everyone would be happy as long as the Arab nations did the same and stopped backing insurgents.

I applaud your attitude in that you want to learn about world affairs, but this place isn't gonna give you unbiased facts because the problems all arise from religion and the failure to tolerate or 'live and let live' - so typical from most religions.
Look into it on an unbiased website - I've forgotten the URL but search for 'Israel problem' and there's a good one somewhere, written by a British political historian.
Good luck.

Israel likes to bully it's neighbors, because it's neighbors have a more legitimate claim to their land then Israel does. Lebanon, has been a struggling country constantly bullied by Israel since the 1960s. Israel will manipulate any excuse to invade, attack, and harm the people of Lebanon. For example, this current conflict began when a fringe, marginalized group of people claiming to be Hezbollah militia-men kidnapped two Israeli soldiers. The Israeli reaction was to blow up the Beirut International Airport. Violence on both sides escalated from there. (Beirut is the capitol of Lebanon.)

Hezbollah wants to destroy Israel and wipe it off the face of the earth. That is their only goal. They are mainly supported by Syria and Iran. Actually many Islamic nations support them covertly. They formed in the 1980's during the civil war in Lebanon when everyone was fighting everyone. Hezbollah is stationed in the southern part of Lebanon and frequently provoke Israel. Then they cry when they get their *** kicked. That is that. Unless the Islamic nations recognizes Israel's right to exist and disband Hezbollah, the fight will go on.

Here is how it all starts...
Hizbullah came into existance as a result of the 1982 Isreali occupation of Lebanon in which Isreal massacred alot of people at the Sabira and Shateela Refugee camps in Lebanon. Hizbullah exsits as a resistance force to counter Isreal. The recent crisis did not start becuase two Isreali soldiers were captured by Hizbullah. Isreal had been bombing and kidnapping Palestinians for a month before Hizbullah saw this as a reason to capture two Isreali soldiers and provide a distraction for the Isreali forces that were bombing Palestinian territories in the Gaza Strip.
Of course Hizbullah has used, in the past, Isreali soldiers as "bargaining chips", to get out Lebanese people locked up in prison camps in Isreal for years without charges (Sounds like GITMO). Currently, over 9000 such Lebanese civilians remain locked up without charges in Isreali prison camps.
So, this is not as simple as saying, Hizbullah captured the soldiers so we have to invade. This is a long and deep problem. The only way to end this is by ending the occupation of the Palestinian territories and stablishing dialog between both sides.
