Soccer as it is very similar in strategy and formations as field hockey. Sports such as golf, tennis, etc....will help your hand eye coordination.Long distance running will help with stamina for game time.

I am actually starting field hockey next year too. I play roller and ice hockey so I figured it shouldnt be too hard, but I looked field hockey up online and on youtube to see how its played and all that stuff and I thought it was gonna be so hard! But its really not. I have a broken hockey stick thats blade is shaped like a field hockey stick so I use that with a tennis ball and its so easy and really fun. I know I havent been on the field or any of that but my friend learned it really quickly so I think if you have the dedication and the time then you should be fine. Good Luck
