It depends on where you are at in the world and what beach you are on.
Some are polluted and have used hyperdermic needles washing up on to the sand. Some have volcanic rock for beaches instead of sand. And yet others have stones for a beach.
Some places the water is very warm, while yet others have very cold water.
Jetskis boats of all kinds ie sail boats, pontoon boats, speed boats are common at the beach. so is a beach towel, or umbrella.
Sand bars for food and drinks, lifeguards, seaguls, and the occasional dead fish.

Besides the obvious of sand and shells, there is the sound of the waves, the spray, the foam, the SMELL! I just love it, especially at night or before a big storm to realize just how big the ocean is and just how small I am.

Drunks; cars stuck in the sand; sand in your eyes; sand in your pants; sand in your food; sand in your car; wet seats in your car; sunburns; sweat; sticky, pasty, smelly sunscreen; crabs biting your toes; Portuguese Man-of-Wars stinging you into a coma; perverts with binoculars watching people doin' it; perverts doin' it up in the dunes, being watched by perverts with binoculars; busted-up, sun-bleached remnants of sea shells; litter everywhere: I hate the gosh darn beach!
