the movie is almost 20 years old. cruise was not into his strange behavior yet. his recent antics have influenced peoples opinion. but 20 years ago, when the movie was panned, cruise was considered to be a fine young actor with oscar potential.

It depends on who the critic is. If you find a critic who saw the movie when it was popular then you'll have good reviews. If you find a critic who was not around, when it was popular, then you'll see bad reviews. They do this same thing on VH1. They have young people, who were toddlers when a certain song came out, rating songs.

I dislike both one in each of them. yet Tom Hanks, slightly a lot less. Tom Cruise is a narcissistic fool. As evidence, he dumped Nicole Kidman. what style of an fool ought to unload a lady like her? A narcissistic style. And for what? Katie Holmes? isn't she like 1/2 his age? and below 1/2 the female Nicole is. Cruise's videos are not any further some thing that awesome both. the in reality one I ever loved changed into risky company. He detracted from Paul Newman interior the colour of money. And each little thing else turned right into slightly a lot less exciting... Tom Hanks has achieved various videos that i love, plus Bosom friends. yet there is merely some thing about him that grates hostile to me. per chance it truly is merely that Forrest Gump ruined Tom Hanks for me. He turned right into a more advantageous acceptable comedic actor, than drama... in reality, it truly is precisely what that's, i will't stand his drama roles. Politics... I attempt no longer to enable it impact my leisure. If I did, i ought to easily have Chuck Norris, and united states song. So I ignore all the Hollywood idiots at the same time as they commence operating off on the mouth.

I liked it.
It was the 80's. A LOT of movies back then were cheesey, so I don't understand why everyone's attacking it with that argument.
And Tom, whether people like him or not, has made a number of hit movies back-to-back.
Other actors cannot say the same.
Give credit where credit is due.

Two words. TOM CRUISE.
It wasnt exactly a great movie to begin with but it seriously downslides if you factor in how much people dislike him no wafter the whole oprah/brook sheilds/scientology weirdness satred to shine throguh.
i mean come the guy left nicole kidman, NICOLE KIDMAN, and is now engaged to katie holmes?
obviusly something isnt working right.

I don't know. I thought it was a good classic 80s movie. I mean, yeah it's a little cheesy but what wasn't in the 80s??? Also, I loved that soundtrack (well, at the time, not now lol!)

I love Cocktail! It's my favorite Cruise film. The plot was somewhat stupid but Cruise was sexy.

Probably because Elizabeth Shue is supposedly pregnant at the end and she is drinking champagne.

its just really cheesy is all, but it is entertaining. its an easy one for critics to pick apart, its 80s, its corny, its Cruise, etc.
