I fear I am becoming a bit of a recluse. I hate to leave the house and I won't if there's any way I can aviod it. I work just a few minutes from my home and where my kids go to school. If it weren't for work and grocery shopping, I'd never leave the house. People are just so mean these days. I hate that this is affecting my kids because I usually keep them in the house with me. Just being around people sometimes makes me physically ill. I guess maybe I'm losing it. Does anyone ever feel this way?

I do feel that way at times. When I do feel that way at work, I have found that giving my boss a great big squeeze always helped. But on a serious note, it may depend a lot on where you go when you do get out. Stay away from crowds with your kids, unless the crowd is made up of kids.

I would not worry unless its a persistent feeling that gets stronger with time.
Everyone goes through bouts sometimes, you just want to sit and home and be a slob and not have to do anything or interact with anyone unless necessary.
This usually comes on the heels of one or two bad experiences with colleagues or strangers, perhaps a misunderstanding at work, or a rude shopper in a grocery store (where the right response did not occur till AFTER you reach home, as usual)....
But you should be able to bounce back to how you normally feel soon enough.
If you feel dread or anxiety beyond what is supposedly normal, or you find excuses to put off doing normal things then I would worry.
The world is a wonderful place, sometimes bad things happen, but there is nature and colours and the kindness of loved ones and sometimes, even strangers (even in this day and age) to make up for it all still.
Look on the bright side if you can.

I know how that goes. About four years ago, I, for no good reason at all, decided people were repulsive and that I did not want to be around them. I now go out only to buy groceries or take my daughter somewhere. This site is the nearest thing I've come by in a long time that even resemble communication with others. I've tried therapy, but all they suggest is that getting out among people will relieve the problem. I tried, it didn't. Good luck conquering it.

i can relate sometimes with how you feel... there are days when i wish i never had to leave my bed far less the house. i too live just minutes from my office and there are days when i just don't feel to rush to work (and that's becoming more and more frequent).

however, i think everyone goes through similar feelings whether they want to admit it or not... the main thing though is that you can't let it affect your kids. they need to interact with other kids their age.
