Who else is it going to be about?

Well usually it is, not always. Have you ever read lord of the rings, the chronicles of Narnia, sanctuary. Those stories don't really have a main character. A lot of westerns are written that way as well as many others. Probably because if you study the intimate deatails of someone. You'll find you idenditify with them on some level, and kinda root for them and their goal. Or wait for the good guy to capture them.

It would appear to me that primary goal of the main character is to act as a guide to the reader throughout the story. What do you think?
