Yes, you'll find most males are out on the hunt for females.

Yes! Since I was a teenager (I am almost 40 now, and speak from bitter experience), I have always referred to September as 'spider season', I have no idea why they become so prolific in September, but they do. I know this because I'm scared of the 8-legged critters. Fortunately, this year at any rate, I haven't encountered any 'monsterspiders' yet, just small, ugly, spindly ones.

Yeah wolf spiders the big brown ones always come in in September because everyone puts they're heating on and its warm for them to be inside where as outside its cold.
Our house is full of them its horrible, I'm terrified of spiders and dread September!!!

Yes there are loads! I had noticed that too. I like them though as they catch all the other little flying insects. I only clean away their webs when the spider is dead or no longer there.

I also have an absolutely massive one that runs through the lounge sometimes. I have called him George.

There was a programme on the other morning on BBC I think. Apparently it is because of the mild weather over the winter, there was no frost to kill them off, and they are last years, which means they are well developed. They are males seeking females and they come through open windows into the comfort of the house. What worries me is what size they will be next year if the mild weather persists.

I've lived on the coast my whole life until about three years ago, I've noticed more spiders in the houses there. I believe them to start coming indoors as soon as the rains start hitting. My opinion they are fine outside... once in my space - there's war.

They come in, looking for a warm place as the days grow shorter, and the weather cools (a bit). At least they will eat the flies!

Yes it's the time of year for them getting cooler, nights getting darker sooner - and it's normally the big brown ones with googly eyes which you convince yourself is the biggest on you've seen.

Not many spiders, but we are being invaded by Daddy Long Legs, and I hate the buggers.
