If you are talking about those little fruit fly bugs, here's what my mom and dad used to do when I was a kid.

You take a piece of paper and bend and tape it into a cone, but make sure there's a little opening at the tip. Put some fruit juice into a glass, put the cone into the glass so the tip is pointing down into it, but not touching the liquid. You might have to tweak the shape a little. The fruit flies will go down the cone to get the juice, but they can't get back out. Then you can dump them down the drain. Bwahaha, you've made an evil fruit fly trap.

You must have something somewhere that is attracting the fruit flies though. I just found a bunch in my house too. Turns out there was a moldy orange in the bottom of my fruit bowl. Very weird because it was only a couple days old.

So far all the answers failed to address where they are coming from....That's how you get rid of them, treat the SOURCE not the SYMPTOM.

That being said, gnats like damp places. If you have a lot of house plants try drying them up. Let them wilt then water just enough to bring um back. Keep doing this wet/dry cycle and that will help.

Also, they love fruit peels and other sweet trash. Make sure anything like this is removed from the house asap. Throw this kind of waste into a plastic grocery bag and toss it in the freezer until you are ready to take out the trash or has accumulated enough for a trip to the outside trash.

That's gonna do it for the inside, just think damp soil and fruit peels and the like.

OK, for the outside. If you have fruit trees, pick up all the fallen fruit. Those are breeding grounds for these pests. Also make sure your trash has good lids on them. I know it wont keep them out BUT it will help the smell from getting too far attracting more gnats.

If you have soggy spots outside, dry them up. Over watering is a big factor in bugs so keep that in mind.

Now for the flyers that are already buzzing around, some good old fashion sticky fly strips will do wonders in cutting them down. Spraying chemicals is pretty much worthless in the long run.

There you have it, good luck

Oh yeah, a good drain cleaning will help too. A big pot of boiling water down the drain will help for starters. ALL drains! You want to get rid of the goo in there too so a strong drain cleaner is advised. Since the drains arent clogged, use a foaming draincleaner and let it sit. Repeat as neccessary.

Very simple. Put some alcohol (such as rum) in a container (a empty plastic coke bottle for example) and the nats will fly in and drown. This is the truth. They are attracted to the sweetness of the rum.

If you have fruit or stale bread sitting out that is going bad that could be the problem, and if you have fruit that isn't bad you can put it in the refrigerator.I have also heard that if you fill A Ziploc bag full of water it will repel all kinds of houseflies and (gnats).

Put vinegar in a dish with a squirt of dish soap in it. The vinegar attracts them and the soap weighs them down so they drowned.
