Mythology by its very nature is deeply rooted in the culture (society) from which it stems. And so u will find people from different cultures taking different views. There is no way u can define "best' and then select ur best in an objective way.

But since Greek mythology has got the most publicity (thanks to European imperialism) u will find most Westerners voting for Greek or Roman myths. I wonder how many of them know anything about other myths.....

If ur asking about a mythical Epic, my personal choice would be the great Mahabharata (hope u have heard of it) of Hindu myhtology for its sheer breadth, complexity of character development, diversity and scale. Its the world 3 rd largest Epic and 7 times longer than Illiad and Odessy put together. And incredibily more complex and diverse.

But then........i am a Hindu who knows our (the worlds largest) system of myth and a bit about Greek mythology. There may be other great myths from Japan or China or Africa i might not have heard of. And who is to know what great works of literature and mythology of accient Mayans and Incas were lost for ever. Thanks to fanatical Christian bigots.

I'd lean towards Chinese mythology and folklore. There are many instances of interest throughout China's 5000+ year history but some that stand out are the Romance of Three Kingdoms period after the Han Dynasty and the foundings of ancient China... Korean creation mythology is cool too!

Hi. Interesting question. I think it may be hard to pick a mythology that is the "best" because I like them all. Myths try to explain our world in a mystical way. They always invite us into a deeper reflection on the meaning behind that life. I have learned a lot from the stories of people around the world. I find all ancient mythologies fascinating and enlightening.
Among my favs: Egypt. I am a follower of the gooddess after whom I am named. Therefore, I honor her stroies most of all. I am a junior priestess in Her Temple now and in a few more years hope to be a full Priestess.

if look real close you'll find that all mythology is intwined but given a choice , yes greek simply because its been more exposed , but a close second is norse (norway , sweden etc) thats is close because to get to heaven you had to be a hero , a real good person to enter valhalla , something to think about in todays world?

flip of the coin between Norse and Greek, myself.

I just find their stories more interesting.

And I love the joke about the one eyed giants.

I like Ancient Egyptian because it predates most others, and if you check the legends of most ancient cultures, you find the same legends, just with different names for the Gods and Goddesses.
