You can go if you want. They are being unreasonable. If they would owe you money, you could collect it even if you did this.

There are Federal laws concerning Indentured Servitude. Also most states have an At Will Employment that clearly states either side can terminate employment any time for any reason.

If you don't need the reference, I wouldn't even call them and tell them.

You'd probably get away with it, but it definitely falls under the work-place ethics concept of "underhanded." If you signed a contract stating you'd give a 1 month's notice then your employer has a legal right to expect from you a months' notice. If you do not give it the he can write some nasty things that will be attached to your resume and credit check for the rest of your life. Most of life is about rolling with the punches. You'll never win if you only duck and dodge; you need to know when to hit, too. But fighting over where you'll be working for 0.17% of your career? That's too risky for my blood. Anyway, best of luck champ. Hang in there another round.

weigh the pros and cons, and remember to be proffesional, you can also work on the side,,,be self employ, work to make yourself rich, not someone else,i work with a great company they help homeowners pull tens of thousands of dollars of interest savings out of their mortgage through a carefully controllled biweekly prepayment system(by dividing their monthly payment by 2). their services is so popular, they're saving homeowners BILLIONS of dollars! this is NOT something that homeowners can easily do on their own due to many hidden pitfalls.... homeowners pay you about $395 to sign up. 2 simple forms. NO refinancing is involved. you enroll the client. the company do evrything else. and YOU CAN POCKET 100% COMMISSIONS! call 1800-365-7550 ext 61583 and get free info, that will explain it in more details, or e-mail me at astride9@aol.com

be professional mate. 1 months notice is one month. you may be leaving the company and you may not need a reference from them but in the future, if somebody does a background check about your previous employers it may come up, people have to say something bad about you. also you may be applying to different company in the future, there is very little chance but the possibility of meeting some people from your previous employers is still there. and they might take it seriously if you are not being professional about resignation.

leave in peace mate!!!

If I were you I'd just role with it. Don't forget - you're probably working a month in arrears - so the pay cheque you just received was for August. You'd end up missing out on a good few weeks pay.

Also - you will probably need their reference for your next job. Especially if you don't stay long in your new role.

. . . as an employer, having read your Question - I certainly would not employ you unless you fulfilled your obligation to your current employer and would strongly urge other employers to do likewise.
It's your future and it looks as though it's going to be quite limited . . .
