basically Rape is penetration by force or against the will of the victim.while Sexual abuse (also referred to as molestation) is defined by the forcing of undesired sexual acts by one person to another.this can be a touch on the butt or the grabing of a crouch, once its sexual its molestation.
Different types of sexual abuse involve:
Non-consensual, forced physical sexual behavior such as rape or sexual assault
Psychological forms of abuse, such as verbal sexual behavior or stalking.
The use of a position of trust for sexual purposes. Sexual assault is any undesired physical contact of a sexual nature perpetrated against another person. While associated with rape, sexual assault is much broader and the specifics may vary according to social, political or legal definition.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, sexual assault includes "inappropriate touching, vaginal, anal, or oral penetration, sexual intercourse that [one says] no to, rape, attempted rape, [and] child molestation."[1]
Aggressors may include, but are not limited to, strangers, acquaintances, superiors, legal entities (as in the case of torture), or even family members. Often, the act is accomplished by force sufficient to cause physical injury. At other times, even though no lasting physical injury is sustained, the psychological damage done by this intimate violation may be substantial.

I thought that the difference was that rape was forced sexual intercourse but sexual assault was other forms of sexual acts without penetration. I could be wrong and I can't be bothered to google it on my phone, but yeah.
He might be arguing that it's sexual assault because he might not believe male x male sex is actually intercourse. Who knows. In any case he's a sick person who seriously needs mental help and to be locked away.

It also seems that molestation is an act against a minor, while sexual assault does not specify an age of the victim.

rape means you must be forced to have sexual intercourse with another person. male to female. in the state of georgia a man cannot be raped--he is sodomized....
sexual assault is normally a charge of bosses or teachers attempting to seduce you into sex for a raise or grade etc.
molestation is whre no actual intercourse is taken but the offending party either forces you to do something of a sexual nature against your will, or does something to do sexually without your will..there are major differences

Rape is forcing someone to have sex with you. Sexual assault, which is a lesser offense, includes unwelcome touching of private areas of the body. Molestation involves abuse of position of authority (parent, step-parent, teacher, priest, etc.) to coerce a minor to engage in sexual intercourse or to "allow" what would normally be unwelcome touching of private areas of the body.

"Molest" is a general term which is not in my state's criminal code. The code sections are pretty specific, as in "Inanimate object sexual penetration." Just look up your state's criminal code sections, dude, if you are really interested. All of these words are in the dictionary. Too lazy to read?
