Not even close. Even assuming that the government functions the way it does, the current electoral college model locks us into a two-party republican system, with little hope of breaking the deadlock.

And in the US we don't elect one person to have all the power. The Constitution is very clear on that. The problem is we have a leader who is ignoring the laws and ignoring the Constitution, and claiming all the power as a virtual dictator.

Which means we've stopped being any form of democratic government, because the people no longer have any effective say in what happens. Mostly through apathy, but also because those in power have rigged the system so that they stay in power.

representative Democracy could be if the Politicians negotiating instructor pay & reward weren't thoroughly offered off by instructors Unions. Ditto for government workers frequently. authentic adequate that no longer all people is conscious the version between Direct & representative Democracy - simply by fact public college instructors earnings from the perversion of representative Democracy there is not any longer lots attempt spent to show it. yet very just about all people is getting sensible to what number Politicians are no longer representing their components. (extremely a million/2 the Republicans and all the Democrats) If the Tea social gathering hates your baby-kisser, they have bought out. So some human beings are advocating direct democracy simply by fact our Representatives have been offered off by Unions. Politicians provide the Union sweetheart deals. (aka funds busters) Unions provide vastly to election campaigns. (generally Democrats) it is why there's a call for direct democracy. it's time to provide up this bullshit.

we have a representative republic, not a democracy.
we elect people to decide our laws and various ways of enacting them. policy in America is tied to voting day, so it is quite absurd when you hear that one candidate crying another is "playing politics." that would be like saying the banker we may chose to keep our money safe is "playing money," as this is his function- to determine monetary safety.
the art of vying for votes is political by its very nature, policy is the result.
it took us decades after we signed the constitution to become stable enough to allow all adult citizens the right to vote, about 150 years actually. before that owner landowners and then only men determined the policy makers and the resultant policy.
Iraq is not a mess as the drive-by would have us think. it is not perfect, but neither were we in 1792.

trying to bring democracy to Irak or other countrys like it,
would be like kicking a dead horse. 200 years from now maybe,
right now they are still in medieval times, I am not racially motivated
but I do know their characteristics and how they tick, sorry to say but to many of these people dont know how to control their tempers,
just like we where 200 years ago.
