Hi,i`m going to a wedding reception next weekend in quite a fancy hotel and didn`t have a clue what to wear,i`m not really a dress person but decided to go for a black `Marilyn Monroe` style dress,it has a sort of satin halter neck and bust and the rest is plain,as i said i dont really know much about dresses so was just wondering if you think this will be ok for an evening reception?I was going to wear it with either silver or gold peep toe style shoes and matching bag and earrings, which do you think would look best?I have dark hair and will be going for a spray tan if that makes any difference!Advice appreciated, thanx.

firstly, well done on loosing weight. woo hoo for u.
ur dress sounds fab, and the silver will go great with the black and ur dark hair, its not what u wear alot of the time its how u feel in it, if u feel "it and a bit" go for it babe.

I think the dress sounds very nice but it is not always appropriate to wear black to weddings. I suggest you wear a wrap or even a little shurg top that ties in the front in another colour to brighten up your outfit. Maybe red and stick to black shoes and bag or if you want to wear gold shoes you could wear a gold wrap?

Sounds really nice. I'd go for the gold personally but either will be perfectly ok with dark hair and a black dress.

To tell you the truth I am not so sure about the halter neck. Have you thought of wearing a wrap or shrug with it until you get there and see how you feel. I would go for the silver accessories. I hope I haven't offended you it is just that I am not keen on halter necks.
Most of all have a great night.

If you feel comfortable in it, then you go girl, especially after losing weight. If I was you, as you are having a spray tan, I would go for Silver as I think silver looks better against a tan, than gold does.
You have a nice time.
You will look greaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

Ive been to a ton of evening weddings, you'll fit in perfectly. Go with the siver shoes and jewelery. I suggest a black wrap, too. Fall evenings and air conditioned rooms can be cool and a wrap adds warmth but still looks elegant.

that sounds gorgous. i would go for a gold marilyn monroe style dress. NOT white because thats offensive to the bride and NOT black because that represents mourning. weddings are happy days. as for the shoes, black peep toe style shoes and matching black clutch with dangly earrings would be gorgous. think of doing your hair in a side ponytail curled with a curling iron. have fun, you'll look fabulous â¥

Hi, I would say that you try the dress and accessories on in front of a really honest good friend and ask their opinion. You could also ask the other guests what they will be wearing. I personally would not wear black to a wedding.

Sounds great - black is always good. Silver shoes (of the two) will look classiest. Maybe wear a choker style necklace - simpler the better, in silver.

I say that would look great with silver, but then again I love silver with black and I'm not to crazy for gold and black. Although I think gold does look much better with browns.
