It can do. It depends entirely on your expectations.
If you hope merely to have cheap sex, then usually you will be disappointed in some way or other.
If you hope to meet someone who may share an interest or an affinity with you ... but may or may not have the chemistry you are looking for, then you can expect an entertaining evening. Perhaps more.

Are you really that desperate that you have to date that way?
Consider yourself lucky. Dating on-line is a really dangerous thing to do. You don't know what kind of person will show up after you arrange a meeting. Stop dating that way and you will be safer. There are 2 known sexual predators in my neighborhood and one is using the Internet. Until he commits another crime, there is nothing the police can do.
You want to meet decent guys, try going to church, though that is no 100% guarantee, but it is much less risky than on-line stuff.

I myself believe very much so. I met a girl that lives in Canada and I lived in Georgia. We spoke and got to be great friends then a little more over the course of the next 2 years. Then I decided to take a risk and drive up to Canada to meet her. I lived with her for much of the year, but had to return to the US for citizenship reasons. We plan to resolve it and make plans for our future!! Go For It!!

Well, it worked for my brother and his wife! They will celebrate their first anniversary in October. They met four years before they married though.
