I want to download my video into my laptop to burn on dvd but my laptop doesnt have firewire, only usb. is there anything i can do?

where do i find that and what does it plug into? how much do they run?

Not if the cam is Firewire only! Get a Firewire PC Card for your laptop. You can get one at Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City and larger Wal-Mart Supercenters or pretty much any computer shop. It slips into one of the PC Card slots on the side of your laptop.
But check your cam's docs carefully. It might have a USB port as well as a Firewire port.

Check on the mini-DV camera. Many have a mineature USB cable connector. Probably more common that firewire. The mini USB looks like this http://www.usbwholesale.com/mini%20usb%20cable.htm
