I just wish I had another computer to verify its not the internet connection. What should i look for?

Then tell me my genius friend, how in the world did you get to post this question? It must be your supernatural powers that you're using.
I kinda sympathize even more with the IBM employee from a few years ago. Sincerely trying to assist a customer get their computer back up and running only to find out that the power wasn't on. Poor guy felt really frustrated and told them to pack up the computer in a box and send it back because they were too stupid to own one.
He got fired, but the poetic justice is he won his lawsuit.

If this is your only computer and you cannot get online, then how are you posting this question?
Were you able to get on earlier? If so, the problem could be with the ISP.

Try renewing your IP address when you're connected.
Start Menu and go to Run. Type CMD in the box and hit enter. On the black window that pops up type: ipconfig /release
hit enter and type: ipconfig /renew
hit enter again and see if a connection is made.
