He stares, pays unannounced personal (not professional) visits to my office when no one else is around, and says nice things to me in a manner that creeps me out. He has not done anything overtly inappropriate, but I feel very uncomfortable being around him...Oh and he is supposed to be a happily married man.

I had spoken about his behaviour to colleagues of mine and he had stopped coming around for a while, as I think word had gotten back to him. Now, he's suddenly becoming a little too friendly again. I feel like I'm playing a game of hide and seek with this man, which is not pleasant.

Ok not to point the finger at you but how are you dressing? Are you showing off lots of cleavage or a little too much leg? Have you given this man any reason to think you are attracted to him in any way? If you answered NO to those questions then you need to tell him directly that you are there in a professional mannor only and seeing as he is a married man you would apprecitate it if he stopped with the visits to the office unless he has some actual business to discuss with you, better yet ask him to email any work related things to you. If he still does not get the hint then take it to HR and make sure you document everything!!!!! If HR does nothing (sometimes they don't) then you go to his immediate supervisor and then he/she know how you feel...You should not have to feel uncomfortable at work... If neither of these things work then you might have to call in the "Brut Squad" to let him know to back off. Just stay out of any compromising positions, don't be in an office alone with him, if you HAVE to leave the door open, try to have someone around you so you feel safe and be careful. Be VERY adamant about the fact that you are not interested in him and do not like his advances. Good luck & be safe....

Actually what he is doing is illegal. Even if he never touched you it is harassment. You really need to tell him yourself that he makes you uncomfortable and you do not want to be alone with him or anyone else at your place of work, because it might be misunderstood by others. If you just cannot bring yourself to do this, maybe your colleagues will intervene again and he will get the message. Be careful that you don't make them feel you are afraid to take care of yourself and depend on them to run interference every time.

Tell your HR personnel, or if the company is too small, tell your manager or the owner. If the management/ownership of the company doesn't do anything about this on your behalf, then there are plenty of good lawyers that will. This is never acceptable behavior - when the woman says "no" it is final, and there are plenty of anti-harrassment laws to back that up.

You need to make a complaint to human resources. If you really don't want to do that you should try to have a serious talk with him and tell him that he is making you uncomfortable.

Tell him you are not comfortable when he is around you. if you are sure you are not sending him signals of being interested then tell the guy "look, you are not my cup-a-tea ... so get lost! go perch in someone else office". If he is anybody, that aught to do it.
