I have Norton. Can I use it to scan an external drive? I want to be sure to get rid of anything bad before hooking it up to other computers.

Yes you can. If you have the external hard drive plugged into you computer you should be able to see it at MY COMPUTER. Right click on the drive and choose the option that says SCAN WITH NORTON ANTIVIRUS.

That is about it. The only thing left to do is wait for it to finish and you are set.

Good luck!

Hook the hard drive to you computer.
When you'll initiate the scan with Norton, select the external hard drive instead of you local C drive.

The answer is yes. Select the Norton software box and then "perform scan." Then tell it the drive you want scanned.

Easy to scan. Open my computer (double click), then right click on the external drive and select from the dropdown "scan for viruses" that's it!
