They'll all be called Erik or Fritz
They eat sausage
drink endless pints of premium strength lager which they never queue for
Have reddened cheeks and boozers noses like Alex Ferguson
They wear short legged dungarees with long socks.
They fart and burp a lot
The all have wives called Olga
I 'ate the bloody germans

apart hamburg in the north, the northerners are dull, serious, too serious and a joke always has to have a moral at the end of it, they like horses beer and cars. Now the south is almost like a different race, any excuse for a party, street party if weather good, lots of sausage :-) lots of beer, lots of fun and even if they dont wear the lederhosen , the men wear these funny green hats, slap you alot on the back, tell raucous filthy jokes. Pretty olde worlde villages where there's always a rathaus! (townhall). Work hard, play hard, will help you out but more out of a sense of duty than as mates. But do make good mates. Send themselves up and think fawlty towers is a scream. Their music when not listening to the usual rock/pop/classical is still full of oompah volkslieder type unfortunately, and some can yodel, really! They get sentimental and weep about their forests and philosphise alot and in the next minute tell you an outrageous joke. That's been my experience of them.

Germany is a big country. There is no such thing as a "German" village.
Patterns are different from area to area and also depend on the time the place was first settled, you can have clusters, strips and
scattered farms with a church/shop/post office centre.
The people are mostly serious protestants in the North and East, and more relaxed Catholics in the West and South, but thats a generalization, there are "those and the others", as everywhere else.
