Well, he's not going to give you money back for something you still have, now is he!
Just be sure to send it back using a service that will prove he received it - like Signature Confirmation through the Post Office, or UPS. Also, insure it too so if it gets lost or damaged on the way back, you don't lose out.

If you are doing it all through eBay, then it should be acceptable. Look at it from his perspective, you could get the refund and keep the iPod afterall, and the seller would be out of luck. However, if you send the iPod back and he doesn't issue you a refund, you have recourse to go through official eBay channels. If it is through half.com on eBay, they can actually issue you a refund and will charge his account. I'm not sure for regular eBay, but you can do things like lodge a complaint. Before proceeding, look on eBay's page an see if they have any FAQs about this situation, or maybe call a customer service line for advice.

You should 1st off call Paypal and explain the situation. have written proof he will give you the money back for a defective product. Then send the product back and have a UPS or whatever service you use put a trace so when it gets back into his hands you will be notified. Lastly Contact the dealer and ask him to refund him when you know he has it back. If he doesnt refund you can call paypal and ask them to give you the money back because you did what you said you were going to do. (also there is written in email from Paypal that once the product got back to his hands. (you have proof from ups once you have the confirmation) And they will give you the refund

You do have to send it back before you get the refund. For all he knows, you could be sending back an empty box with a paperweight in it. He has to receive and inspect the item. Once he does this, he will issue you a refund.

That's usually how the refund policy is...you must send back the merchandise and then they will refund your money. I think Paypal has some sort of buyer's protection. I would look into that ....

You have to send it back and then get a refund.
Make sure you insure it and get some kind of proof of delivery, so he can't say he didn't get it.
If then he doesn't give a refund, then tell paypal, and if they don't do anything, have your credit card company charge it back.
