what happens if the U.S. attacks Iran?

I'm sure the USA would never pre-emptively strike Iran.

It just would not wise due to the politics involved:
- Russia, China and Iran have an established relationship concerning oil trade. I'm not so sure Russia nor China would just sit back and watch us invade Iran.

My guess would be;

1. Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt would all attack Israel.
2. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, what's left of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan would join Iran to fight against us.
3. Kuwait, Bahrain UAE, Oman, Yemen and some of the African Muslim nations would give aid to Iran but would not join in the fighting.
4. Argentina would cut off our oil, which would leave us dependent primarily on US produced oil.
5. Oil Prices would be $400 a barrel
6. China, Russia and maybe France would try to put economic sanctions on us.
7. China would shut off our funding, since they are our largest lender
8. The US would move into a massive recession
9. North Korea would wait a few months, but would invade South Korea because we would be too busy in the middle east.

Long story short, we would be in world war 3. At the end the US military would come home somewhat victorious. The middle east would be a power vacuum with most if not all of the major governments destroyed. There would be only one Korea. We would loose most of the respect we have remaining with the world and it would take 15-20 to recover fully within the US.

Possible but the more likely scenario would be for Israel to do so, much like the way they knocked out Iraq's nuclear facilities. Israel has a stockpile of strategic nuclear arsenal but will not use it. At the same time, Israel will not allow anyone else in that region to have any. Their position...never again will they allow their people to be slaughtered...and their past actions have supported that.

Oil prices will go sky high and the US will be very busy trying to deny it has anything to do with that. However at the same time, a quiet message will be sent to North Korea that enough is enough. However, nothing can be done there because that happens to be China's back door.

Then we have a War that could prove worse than our situation in Iraq. We also run the risk of spreading our forces too thin. I just hope that we can peaceably resolve the Iran issue.

Iran is one of (if not the) country that developed the suicide bomber. They also have what has been called 'A Million Man Army'. Which is in reference to the number of people who are willing to strap bombs on their body and blow up whatever they need to to make a point and instill terror.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to see our troops on three battlefields, being blown to pieces. I just hope things settle down before troops are sent in.

Iran has surrounded their nuclear sites with civilians. We could take out these sites but could we stomach the outcry of liberals and Islamofascists for the loss of human shields? Israel could do it but we must stand with them. This could be a real turning point for us as a nation. If we turn against Israel, that will be our fall. We must unite on this issue. We are fighting for our survival as a nation. Iran can not be allowed to posses a nuclear weapon. Again , we must UNITE.

US will target certain places (i heard 14,000) with bombs and certainly not invade (Iran has a population 4 times that of iraq).

foreign policy: if it does so, iran will deliver support to resistance in iraq and afghanistan, ensuring the deaths of many more US soldiers there.

domestically: the hardliners in iran will get more support and the moderate voices will be vanquished.

in middle east: more support for those who claim US is just anti-muslim.

in world: more terrorists
