I always recommend epiphone I have 6 and out of all of them my epiphone accoustic electric thin body with a cutaway is my fav. to play..........it has a narrow sweet neck great sound..........
generally the are fretted low...and I like that because I have small hands...and its just an easy guitar to play...............

well don't look at me for this answer cuz i only have one bass guitar as of right now and you're gonna laugh cuz where i bought it! Wal*Mart lol but hey it was low budget lol and you know im only a beginner so i think i will upgrade once i start getting better lol! you go ahead and rock on!! LOL!

I'd recommend an Epiphone or Squier, if it's got to be a new one. Check classifed ads, music stores, 2nd hand shops, Ebay, etc. for a used Gibson or Fender.

What do you play-Style wise?
For Metal/Rock try out Schecter/ This was my first real guitar it good.
Jazz/ Blues- I always liked the fender Jazz master but they have the jaguar which is like a cheaper version.

fender .............. try looking on ebay u should be able to find something within ur budget most likely
