If someone is rich enough to pay bail no matter how high it is, does that make them innocent?

Bail simply "buys" your freedom until a trial date. Bail is forfeited and a bench arrest warrant issued if you fail to show up for trial. Money then buys the best attorneys and therefore "justice." Example, O.J. Simpson et. al.

Bail has nothing to do with innocence or guilt.

Bail is simply to provide a financial incentive to show up for trial. The idea of bail is that if it is too costly to flee, then the defendant will actually show up at trial. That is why people who are considered an extreme flight risk are not released on bail.

Bail is only an issue until the trial. Once the trial is over, regardless of whether the person is found guilty or not, the bail is exonerated and either returned to the person, or applied to fines (if any).

The ability to pay bail has nothing to do with innocence, but bail itself doesn't necessarily have anything to do with innocence, either. Bail is set in relation to the strength of the state's case and the severity of the crime accused.

Perhaps, in a judge's head, he or she calculates the cost of apprehending a bail jumper relative to the benefit in placing him or her behind bars.

You are innocent until proven guilty. If you have a lot of money, you can get a lawyer who is good at leaving reasonable doubt in a juries mind.

No, just rich!

Though the likelihood of them being convicted is small!

Like Bob Dylan Said, "Money doesn't talk, it swears!"

And Justice isn't blind!
