I've had problems with Dex_Cool eating away my gaskets. I prefer a GM mechanic to answer.

yes its ok. you want to make sure that there isn't alot of sludgy type material inside the radiator though. if there is and you flush it you are asking for further problems. you could plug up the radiator, a small by-pass hose, water jacket, or worse a heater core. If it looks clean than I would say get that stuff out of there, its junk

I had problems with Dex-cool in my 96 Blazer... The cooling system got clogged up with rusty sludge. I drained the system and flushed all the sludge out.... and refilled the system with green prestone. Never had anymore problems. This has happened to a number of people I know, who also switched to the green stuff to eliminate the problem.

I would certainly not do it if the Alero is still under the extended warranty. Something goes wrong and they will not honor the warranty. Also, why change?

If you have to ask that question then I would say no. Because if you are asking that question then you don't know much about the car you are working for. Take it to an auto repair shop.

As long as they are the same weight/color, I don't see why not.
