My computer asks for a password and I forgot it. I just want to erase all my data and start over.

Start computer in "safe mode". From there go to control pnl, dbl click "user accounts" and open a new "administrator account".
You can leave the password section blank if you want. Password will then not be required for logon or anything else. Nothing to forget! No hassles! If security is an issue, better fill in a password and do not forget it. Write it down somewhere; or, repeat this procedure again.

If you want to scrap everything and start over, reboot off your original windows CD (assuming you use a windows PC, of course) Agree to everything it asks and it will reinstall the OS, but you'll almost certainly lose everything on your hard drive.

Press F11 upon restarting and it will bring up recovery options.
