I don't have much luck with room mates, but I guess I can live with it. I go home at least 3 times a week however because I work and then it is just easier to stay at my house than to drive back to college at night. Having a room is convenient, but also an annoyance because I am always leaving a book at college or leaving it at home and a sweatshirt I might want to wear might be at college or at home when I want it. College is so expensive should I just commute?

I love commuting. You can live at home and do what you want and not have to worry about sharing a room with someone you hate. I live 30 minutes from school, and it's fine for me. Just make sure you get classes on the same days or not to far apart so you're not driving everywhere. Plus, it saves me a whole lotta $$$.

You can still go to parties and such (if you're into that stuff), you have friends there you can still hang with and stay with a night or two if you want.

You don't have to live with parents, get a small apartment by yourself or with someone else that you can choose. That's what I am doing.

Commute all the way!

Commuting is fun provided it doesnt take a lot of you, in terms of commuting time, if weather can play a role especially if you live in northeast. Also not sure where you commuting from. Overall it is the comfort of home, commuting thrice week which isnt much, plus saving on money, i think are good options to weigh in for your decision.
Good luck and good wishes

The big downside of commuting is that you won't make as many friends if you live on campus. Live in a dorm for a quarter, then find friends to move out into a house or apartment. Commuting is a pain due to the driving, hunting for parking spaces, and missing out on the lectures, sports games, library, study groups that take place on campus.

If you go home often, and live close enough, and you're kind of commuting as it is, you should just commute next semester. That way, you will save the expenses of room and board and food and all those extra costs. If you're basically commuting now, you should just do it and have college be cheaper next year!

It is really a toss-up. College is the time when you truly experience your social side. Moving home would save money, but you will find yourself having to answer to mom and dad again, which can cause some real problems.

If you don't live too far, I'd go ahead and commute. I did the same thing my last semester of school, and was much happier.
