He's 3.5 months old and is a good sleeper. He loves napping in his carseat-stroller, or in his bouncy seat, swing etc. But I've just read that I should be putting him into his crib for naps. Since he naps 3-4 times a day I dread crib naps b/c it means I'll be tied to my apartment for most of the day. Experienced moms, any insight?

If you are home for nap time it is a good idea to let them sleep in the crib, but there is nothing wrong with having them sleep in the stroller if you are out and about. If I never went anywhere just because my son was taking a nap at that age I would have never gotten my errands done.

Just because you put the baby in the crib to sleep does not mean you will be tied to the apartment all day. Just pick the baby up and put him in the car seat or the stroller or where ever you are going. Alot of times no matter where you put the baby if he wants to sleep he will sleep. Putting him in the crib is really good for him it gives him room to stretch out and eventually get used to it. You sound like a really good mom though. and i hate to tell but books don't know your baby only you do. A book can't tell you how to do everything it can try though.

Don't worry about letting him nap in his carseat or stroller when you are out and about. But, when you are home make sure he naps in his crib. you want him to know that the crib is where he sleeps...just to make night time sleeping easier.

Good luck!

He needs his sleep and the only way he is going to get that is in a comfortable crib. I have three children and I will tell you from experience, it is much healthier for them to rest in a crib than it is in an uncomfortable stroller. You're the mom and should be responsible to take the best care of your baby. Schedule your errands around his nap times. He comes first, not the other way around!

As soon as possible and as much as possible. You may be tied to your apartment now, but in the future, you may be tied to "his car seat-stroller, or in his bouncy seat, swing etc." You don't have to do it all the time, just as often as you are in your apartment. Get him used to sleeping along in a bed. It'll make it easier in the long-run. Babies will sleep a lot in the beginning, so you don't always have to do it, but be cognizant that you need to put him in his bed whenever possible.

my baby girl is also 3.5 months old and i started putting her for her afternoon nap in her crib about 2 weeks ago!
she is sleeping longer and better and is in a great mood!
just don't make the room too dark and it is OK to make some noise so he knows is just a nap...

Our 4 month old son naps in a sling attached to me. I can do laundry, clean, watch tv, or play on the internet (as I am now), all with him napping on his mom and close to my heart. Why push napping in a crib unless you have to, especially with such a young baby? Plus, if he naps in a sling, you're not tied to your apartment. You can go on walks anywhere!

What, were you taking this child to work with you? By three weeks to 1 mth. he should be napping in his crib far more sleeping. You don't have to be afraid, invest in a good baby sitter or nanny.
