Iran has every right to enrich uranium for energy purposes because it is a member of the NPT (Nuclear non-proliferation Treaty). This treaty guarantees this right as long Iran stays within certain guidelines.
Ironically, Bush told India, who has refused to sign the NPT, they could enrich uranium. This creates a very complicated dilemma.
Additionally, if you examine Iran's history, Iran has no history of aggression but rather of defense. Iran has also held to all regulations of the NPT to include full access to all uranium enrichment sites to all U.N. inspectors.
There is no evidence to support restricting Iran's right to enrich uranium in order to obtain nuclear energy. Also, keep in mind, Israel has nuclear weapons.
Now with all that said, how do I feel about it? I am not comfortable with Iran having any nuclear capability whatsoever. That is why I fully support Russia's offer to Iran to let them use their nuclear enrichment sites in reaching the targeted material for nuclear power.
This way, Iran gets nuclear energy but does not have the capability of enriching uranium.
Why am I uncomfortable with Iran having this capability? It is not because I feel they are a threat. And it is not that I believe Iran would secretly develop nuclear weapons. It is my fear that Iran is too closely related to organizations that want to do us and Israel harm and I am afraid this technology might fall in the wrong hands.

They signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty which says they will only use nuclear power for peaceful purposes. The Supreme Leader Khameini (who is by the way the commander in chief of the military, and the only person who can declare war - not the President Ahmadinejad who we are familiar with from the media) has issued a fatwah (religious edict) that nuclear weapons are against Islam. The Bush administration has decided they are untrustworthy and threatened them with sanctions unless they do away with their entire nuclear program regardless if it is peaceful or not. Could they make nuclear weapons? Yes but not soon. Will they make nuclear weapons? I think that depends on how threatened they feel.

I don't!
I really could care less what you "THINK"! The agency in charge of monitoring nuclear resources have said they have enriched Uranium to 3%! It takes 98% enrichment to make a nuclear weapon!
They have a right under the NPT to use nuclear power, and in order to do that they must enrich Uranium to about 5%!
We already have a Bush, who has been caught lying again! We don't need another one with all these scenarios that NOT ONE HAS BEEN THE TRUTH!! Or even close!!
Bunch of war mongers!

Considering the technology has been around for over 60 years, I'd be surprised if they weren't working on a development project. The entire region is so volatile right now, I wouldn't feel very safe without nuclear capability either. I think Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, India and Pakistan all have nukes already.

Well, they suddenly want nuclear power so badly that they're defying most of the civilized world over it, and they have a President who has called for the wiping of Israel off the map...Maybe they're not making them now, but if not, they most likely have a plan to do so.

a million. The Persians are actually not stupid. I purely wish they have been. they are probable the neatest Islamic usa. they have an prolonged historic previous of creation and invention. in assessment to assert Egypt, whom are purely quite often Arabians whom migrated to Egypt in the process the final 1000 years and have not have been given any connection to historic Egypt. 2. They maximum easily be responsive to what to do with it. would desire to take them some extra time, whether that is purely a rely of time. 3. They already proved they are able to amazing technological feats - they released a satellite tv for pc case in point. And this below sanctions. We difficulty, by way of fact they have many times called for Israel's destruction. and that i think them. i do no longer think of they say it in jest, or as rhetoric. I additionally do think of that they does no longer hesitate to sacrifice some Arabs (like the Palestinians) to kill the Jews. So the declare that they does no longer attack Israel on account that could kill Arabs (they are actually not Arabs besides, and would evaluate all of us killed as Shahids) is nonsense.

Russia offered to GIVE them the uranium they needed for peaceful purposes.
Iran refused, saying they "needed" to develop it themselves. Yet they accept all sorts of incentives and freebies in other areas, so pride is not an issue.
Obviously, they intend to develop nuclear weapons.
