No. It is not true. I just got one on Friday. It's the one called Mirena. It's good for 5 years. I'm very happy with it so far. No problems at all. I got tired of take BCP for 23 years and paying for them every month when it wasn't necessary. After you get it put in, you will cramp. I thought it probably would've been helpful to take Motrin before you get it put in and keep taking it for the first day. I didn't have any cramps after the first day. Getting it put in, you may feel a pinch or two but nothing you can't handle. Good luck!!

Because of where an IUD is implanted...if your partner can feel it...he has been truly blessed.
Just a couple of tips: Your OB-GYN should always note this, but just in case, make sure it is sstated on your pap smear order that you do have an IUD. After a while the cells in the uterus can become irritated by the foriegn body, and can take on some bizarre characteristics. If a Cyto tech or cell biologist reading your pap does not know this, they may mistake the abberant cells for atypical or dysplastic cells...whereas, they are perfectly normal, and nothing to worry about.
Also, if you ever have the need for ultra sound or heat diathermy of the abdomen...let the tech know that you have an IUD. I am not familiar with the brand that the two ladies mentioned,..but do know that some have copper wire...and have been known to heat up and actually burn the uterine lining.
All things considered, I Think an IUD is a good way to go..does not mess up your hormone level.

No your partner can not feel it. I have had Mirena for almost 2 months. Getting it in was a piece of cake. I have had spotting off and on is my only complaint, but nothing you can't tolerate while adjusting to it.
