Existing is a terrible state to be in, where nothing matters and you simply go through the motions of life without really experiencing or feeling any of it. Its total apathy and a lack of any substance. A good way to put it perhaps would be a zombie-like state, where biologically you are indeed alive, but psychologically dead.
Living on the other hand is the opposite, where many things have meaning and purpose. The state of living is one to be enjoyed, simply experiencing to the fullest the wide range of emotions from saddness and anger to joy and celebration. When a person is living they are not apathetic but rather take everything in mentally and physically and process it for what it is, generally resulting in a sense of fulfillment.

A state of being and reality; a state of mind and physical being;
both being constructs that can exist without the other, but the choice or paradox therein is that he (Marshall Hendrix) could choose either when one could have operated exclusively of the other; conversely, the two conditions melded into one would surface from time to time: A matter of now or later with the accompanying state of mind.

"Living" is, I guess, something that's supposed to be more engaged. Where you are engaged in the events of your life, you care about the events of your life, and you actively try to change what you aren't happy with. Living is something like striving.
"Existing" can happen without caring, trying, or striving. Where you just let the events of your life wash over you, and don't try to change or create anything for yourself.
It seems like living and existing might actually just be predicates of a certain kind of mood or attitude. When you're seeing the more positive side of things, you're probably more likely to say you're living. When depressed and focused on the negative aspects of your life, it may seem as if you're just existing and not living. Especially if you become so depressed that you lose the will to try and make your life better.

Heh. This is tricky and Im not going to go by what the lyrics. To me in comparing the words, living is active. You are doing things and making things happen. In the sense of exisiting it is a passive state. One is just alive.
Outside that scope there can be other interpretations but Im not going there.

Hi, Tman,
Existing, is not only "living".. and even less so surviving :confining oneself to living does not fulfill the meaning of existence... We normally think that for existence to acquire meaning it has to feel some kind of commitment...
>>>>>>
Even a commitment, that is meant to give sense.. is not enough.."commitment", as an artifice is not the meaning of existence... Commitment must be more than the lifeline of a feeble and insufficient life .. it must be an expansion of the self... It must be borne by the presence to the self.... ;)
>>>
If the meaning of : "my existence", is not given as a user’s handbook, this is precisely because existence reveals itself to itself... Life unfolds to itself to the extent that it is lived in absolute coincidence with itself....
>>>>>
Thanks, for the question!;)
My regards!

we exist anyway. What we making out of it represents living. Making do not represent doing. Making is a complex of thoughts, feelings, where doing if any is consequences... Thoughts, emotions, feelings is a creational tool which would be nice to learn once in a while.

Living is doing everything in your power to enjoy life to the fullest and not fear tomorrow.
Existing is living without enjoying life, not doing anything to make the most of your life, and living in fear of tomorrow.

Existence requires self-realization, and no more
Living would be the concept of the condition of this existence as it pertains to your construct of the world, ethics, morals and relationships (real or perceived)
Only my opinion

Existing is the mere fact of being. Forks exist, stones exist, desks exist. Living demands a bit more of you.

For me living is meaningless without my having a purpose and fulfillment.
I receive my meaning and fulfillment from my Ministry and trying to assist those I come in contact with.
For me anything else is simple existence.
