I'm from Connecticut, and my father has been a fireman since before I was born. As the child of a firefighter, I can say that I actually do see him a lot. My father works one 24 hour shift and then has 2 days off. Depending on the schedule at the firehouse, your husband may or may not be home more often than my dad.It may be different where you are from. My parents have also never had issues with not having enough time to spend together.

Before your husband becomes a firefighter, there are tests and training programs that he will have to go through to see if he qualifies. If he does, he will have to go to a training program, kind of like a firefighting school so he can be certified and then he can apply for jobs at local fire stations. I have a friend who is going through firefighter training right now so this is how I know how it works. Also, once you become an actual firefigher, you have to attend workshops and more certification programs periodically. Good luck to your husband!

where will he be a fireman? my dad is a retired NYC fireman and loved every minute of it, he said if he could go back that there isn't anything else he would rather do because he knew he was doing something important, your husband will only get paid well if he works in a large city, the benefits are fantastic! he'll work maybe 4 days then off three or vice versa, and as he goes along in his career there are going to be tests that he has the choice to take to advance in the fire dept, my dad regrets that he didn't because its a lot more money, hope this helped! and if your husband joins tell him i said Thank you, firemen are very important to the country
