The pioneer days, like Laura Ingles Wilder. I loved those books. Although Im sure they were very glorified, as was the show Little House on the Prairie..I bet stuff was alot dirtier and much harder than they mention but still I would have liked to live in those days. Everyone was KIND.

1200, Cordova, Spain. At that time it was under Moorish control. Among other things it had:

1. A library of over a thousand books in five languages
2. Lighted streets
3. A university even their women could attend
4. A police force
5. Religious freedom
6. Flush toilets

In addition, the three most powerful people outside of government circles were three women who ran salons where the intellectuals met to discuss new ideas.

Unfortunately, these achievements pretty much disappeared when the Christians retook Cordova in the 1400s. The library was burned, the religious freedom disappeared and so did the university. Don't know about the toilets.

I would relive the 1970's, but as an adult and not a child. The 70's were a lot of fun, and very interesting politically, scientifically, and structurally. It was the time of the Sexual Revolution, Free Love, Disco Dancing, and recreational pharmeceuticals were still considered de rigeur at nearly every occasion. A hedonist's decade, to be sure!

The turn of the century, 1900's all of the "new" inventions coming out! Cars, telephones, etc. Not sure I would like that fact that it would smell horrible, because of no garbage p/u, animals in the streets and not a lot of indoor plumbing, not to mention all the diseases there were no cures for! Maybe I would just make it a short visit....
