That won't be determined until the season is over. If the season ended today, NYY would play Minnesota, Detroit vs. Oakland in the AL...in the NL it would be NYM vs. LA, St. Louis vs. San Diego.

The team with the best record in each league will play the Wild Card team. IF the Wild Card team comes from the same division as the team with the best record, the team with the best record will play the Division winner with the worst record (of the 3 teams that win each division).

The guy named Brian up above has the correct answer. The team with best record plays Wild Card unless the wild card comes from the same division. No sense in repeating all that he wrote.

The teams are ranked on record instead. The team with the best record is ranked #1, and the "worst" playoff team getting rank #4.

In the first round, its #1 vs #4, and #2 vs #3.

Right now, its too hard to tell.

Most likely they'll be playing whoever wins the Central. The wild card will come from the Central, so that team will most likely play the Yankees (they can't play the Central winner, even if that team has the best record).

As of now Oakland would play Detroit in Detroit. They will lose.
