If you went to a tea party and while having your tea a little boy came up to you, touched your arm so he would get your attention and then try to put buggas on you. The tea party was held on behalf of down syndrome children. (His mom ran up to us and said OH NO YOU CANT DO THAT AND TOOK HIM AWAY.

Laugh it off. Kids will be kids, whether or not they have Down syndrome. It sounds like something any child might try to do. The mom did what she could, although she should have asked her child to apologize or apologize for her child if they were too young. Not entirely sure why you felt the need to point out that the party was for children with Down syndrome as the behavior you describe is not something unique or necessarily common among children with Down syndrome. As a mom to a little boy with DS, I expect him to behave just as I would expect any other child to behave.

Oh, and a gentle suggestion, since you seem to be involved with charitable functions, it is far more kind to refer to "children with Down syndrome" and not "Down Syndrome children". They are children first, and the condition is incidental.

Heh heh, he was just acting like a child. Yeah, it's not cool, but I think his mom resolved the issue by taking him away. I guess she could have slipped in an apology, but hey it's not the end of the world.

When I'm carrying my little boy through a crowd, he likes to grab people (gently) on the shoulder or arm and get their attention. It's usually funny, although it startles some people for a second. I always say sorry just in case they are offended, but they almost always smile and say Oh, that's OK.

What are buggas? Bugs? I would be mortified, but then forget about it and enjoy the rest of the party. I once had a dog pee on me at a dog park, and I was okay with laughing at the experience, even if it was mortifying for the moment or two after it happened.

He was just a little boy........I would laugh and get on with the party. Children are wonderful people and don't see things the way we do. My 2 year old granddaughter did the same thing to me this past Saturday. It was better than her eating it.......

Oh, just quietly wipe yourself with a napkin and act as though nothing happened. His mother is obviously a social mis-fit. She could have at least apologized for his behavior.
I wouldn't take any of it seriously. The greater good was at stake.

It doesn't sound like you need to do anything. You might want to stay away from kids with Down Syndrome if you want to avoid that kind of thing.

I'd clean it off my arm and move on. He's down syndrome. One would have to be a twisted human being to get mad at him for being himself.

At least his mom reacted.
Better than those who let their kids run riot.
